How to Calculate GPA
Grade Point Average (GPA) summarizes your academic performance for a semester. Each subject contributes according to its credit hours and grade points.
GPA Formula
GPA = Total of (Credit Hours × Grade Points) ÷ Total Credit Hours
GPA Calculation Example
Suppose a student takes three subjects:
- Subject 1: 3 credit hours × 4.0 points = 12
- Subject 2: 3 credit hours × 3.0 points = 9
- Subject 3: 2 credit hours × 2.0 points = 4
Total weighted points = 25. Total credit hours = 8.
GPA = 25 ÷ 8 = 3.13 (rounded to two decimal places).
